Priyanka Chopra was born at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand state of India on 18 July 1982. Her father Dr. Ashok Chopra was a surgeon in army and her mother, Madhu Akhauri also a doctor. Chopra spent her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Newton, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Priyanka Chopra was in Jai Hind College at Mumbai when she won Femina Miss India contest in 2000. Chopra was crowned Miss India World and later Miss World in 2000 at London. In the same year, Lara Dutta and Dia Mirza, both also from India, won the Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific crowns, in a rare triple victory for one country. Priyanka Chopra is the fifth Indian to be crowned Miss World. She left her studies midway after winning the beauty pageant and joined film Industry.
